PROCEDURE GUIDE

Waist & hip liposuction

Plan the transitions, as well as the treated area.

What the consultation evaluates

The waist, hips, abdomen and thighs are assessed together because changing one area changes the way the others are seen. Some people value fuller hips and want greater waist definition. Others want to reduce a hip contour that projects beyond the thigh or address a particular transition between the two.

Clothing can make the concern easier to explain. Point out a waistband or strap indentation, a fold above it, or the outline that bothers you in a fitted garment. These examples help distinguish a localized fat deposit from skin laxity, garment pressure or underlying anatomy.

Preserve what you like; plan what you want to change

Discuss the fullness you want to keep as carefully as the areas you want reduced. Waist, upper/lower abdominal and hip liposuction may be considered together when that combination fits the examination and your goals.

The proposed plan should define the treatment boundaries and transitions, including the lower back and upper thigh. Ask how skin quality, natural asymmetry and your underlying frame affect the result, and whether separate stages would make recovery more practical.

Questions to bring

  • Which areas would be included in the estimate?
  • How will the transition to the abdomen and thighs be planned?
  • What degree of asymmetry should I expect to remain?

Recovery & follow-up

Ask which sleeping positions, garments and activities will be comfortable during early recovery. If several regions are proposed, review whether treatment should be staged.

Explore body contouring or preparation and recovery.
