PROCEDURE GUIDE

Arm, back & thigh liposuction

One body. A plan for each area.

Areas to discuss at your consultation

Point out the specific fold, fullness or transition you want to address. The plan can consider several areas, with treatment tailored to the tissue and the amount of change you want.

  • Arms: upper and outer-arm fullness, including the area often described as “batwings.” Skin excess is assessed separately.
  • Bra rolls and back: front and back bra rolls, upper and lower back, and the dorsal fat pad at the base of the neck/upper back.
  • Chest: male chest fullness, with evaluation of the relative contributions of fat, glandular tissue and skin.
  • Thighs and knees: inner and outer-thigh contours, their transition to the hips, and localized fullness around the knees.

A change in the dorsal fat pad or another unusual area of fullness may need medical assessment before cosmetic treatment is planned. Bring relevant medical history and your medication list.

Planning & trade-offs

Compare the change you hope to see with the scars, recovery and limits of treatment. Discuss whether treating several areas together makes sense for your health and support at home.

Questions to bring

  • Which of my concerns is most likely to improve?
  • Would an arm lift, thigh lift or bra-line lift better address excess skin?
  • What is the reason to combine or separate the proposed treatments?

Recovery & follow-up

Your job, travel, exercise and caregiving responsibilities help determine a workable recovery plan. The office should provide instructions specific to the treated areas.
