What has changed—and what matters most?
After substantial weight loss, remaining skin folds can affect comfort, clothing and body contour. Identify the areas you want to discuss and whether the concern is irritation, movement, appearance or a combination. Cosmetic planning should follow a review of your health and weight trajectory.
Bring your treatment history
- Weight history and any ongoing weight-loss treatment.
- Previous bariatric procedures and operative reports, if available.
- Current medicines, supplements and recent nutrition-related laboratory results.
- Skin symptoms, treatments tried and practical limits on activity.
Timing and nutrition
Weight stability and adequate nutrition are important considerations for healing. Tell the team about difficulty eating, anemia or known nutrient deficiencies so these can be assessed before surgery. The appropriate timing is individualized.
One stage or several?
Abdominal, arm, thigh and trunk procedures involve different scars and recovery demands. Ask why the proposed combination is appropriate, what would be postponed and who will help you at home.
